Foundations of Integrative Musculoskeletal Care
Saturday, October 10 - Sunday, October 11 @ Spokane, WA

This is an evidence-informed continuing education course designed to expand clinicians’ understanding of musculoskeletal evaluation and management through the integration of modern pain neuroscience, neurophysiology, connective tissue science, biotensegrity, and advanced clinical reasoning. Rather than viewing musculoskeletal pain through a purely structural or biomechanical lens, participants learn a multidimensional framework that incorporates the dynamic interactions among the nervous system, connective tissues, movement system, autonomic regulation, tissue healing, and psychosocial influences on pain and function. Through online prerequisite education and laboratory-based learning experiences, participants develop practical examination and manual therapy skills while learning to integrate orthopedic assessment, neurological screening, functional movement analysis, palpation, and continual reassessment into a comprehensive clinical decision-making process. Laboratory instruction emphasizes supervised hands-on practice, faculty feedback, collaborative partner learning, and immediate clinical application of assessment and treatment techniques. By the conclusion of the course, participants will possess an expanded clinical framework for evaluating complex musculoskeletal presentations and developing individualized, evidence-informed treatment strategies that integrate manual therapy, movement retraining, patient education, and therapeutic exercise.

Educational Philosophy

This course is founded on the principle that effective musculoskeletal care requires integration of structural, neurological, connective tissue, physiological, and psychosocial influences rather than reliance upon isolated anatomical diagnoses. Participants are encouraged to develop hypothesis-driven clinical reasoning through continual assessment and reassessment while recognizing that patient presentation represents the interaction of multiple body systems operating within a dynamic biological environment. Instruction emphasizes evidence-informed practice, patient-centered care, collaborative learning, and immediate clinical translation.
